Just one of those perfect images.

I was invited to photograph a special family gathering for a corporate client in celebration of his father's birthday. Wonderful family, great food, fun, etc. And then during editing the images, you come across one of those amazing touching photos. This was one of them.

Some of my favorite 2010 wedding photographs

2010 was the busiest wedding years I have ever experienced in my fourteen year career.  There are so many great weddings I photographed over the past year in Boston, Massachusetts, Cape Cod, Maine, Newport, Martha's Vinyard, Nantucket, and all over New England.  I have many blog posts to create featuring many of these weddings.  But I wanted to share just a few favorites with you today. Mindy of TextStyle Designs has been a dear friend of mine for over ten years.  And oh yeah, I photographed her wedding over ten years ago as well at the gorgeous Turner Hill in Ipswich Massachusetts. Chatham Wedding photography + a dear friend's wedding

Last week, my family and I had the privilege of spending a few days with a dear friend of ours at a beautiful house in Chatham, MA on Cape Cod. We had perfect weather all week; all the kids played together non-stop; no sharks ate us; and everyone had an amazing time at our friend's wedding (see her photo I took of her below). Doesn't she look like Courtney Cox? Gorgeous! And my son, who is only seven years old, captured a good image of me and Janine. Perhaps he has my photo gene?

One of the best poems I ever heard at a wedding

A couple of months ago, I photographed a wonderfully fun wedding for Haley + Andrew.  Andrew is a filmmaker from NYC.  I am always honored when another creative professional asks me to photograph such an important day in his or her life; it's quite a compliment.  They held their wedding at the beautiful Hamilton Hall in Salem, MA.  As always, the manager at Hamilton Hall, Tricia, orchestrated everything perfectly.  And the food was soooo good, thanks to Don and his team at Harvest Catering. 

Oh yeah, the poem.  One of the family members, Chris Henry, read this poem during the night.  The guests in the room were nodding their heads and quietly saying, "Yes" under their breath.  It was one of those moments that I will never forget.  The poem is so simple and true. I felt it needed to be shared, with Chris' permission, with as many people as possible.  Upon asking Chris if I could post the poem on my blog, she informed me that it was her mother, Janet Henry, who had wrote it.  Unfortunately, Chris' mother lost her battle with breast cancer. She requested that anyone who should choose to use the poem in any way, please make a donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I can get used to this.  Again, my photography was featured in a magazine. This time, it was a national publication; Flower Magazine.  The wedding was held at the wonderful Intercontinental Hotel in Boston. The AMAZING flowers were designed by the flower genius Marc Hall at Winston Flowers.

Wedding in Nantucket - Stefanie + Serge

It was the only Saturday in June of this year that it did not rain. Someone was looking out for Stefanie and Serge. First, I have to thank them for choosing me to be their professional wedding photographer for their wedding in Nantucket. It was as much as a vacation as it was a wedding to photograph for Ashley and I. In addition to Stafanie and Serge's warm and gracious families, I had the pleasure of meeting Nicole Wheldan of Unique Nantucket, a wonderful event planner, and her stellar team of professionals. I made it a point to send her an email, after returning to the mainland, pointing out the fact that her and her team were so organized, calm, and in control; it made everything go so smoothly.  Another person I met was Paul Loura, of Brick Park Entertainment.  What a killer band!!!  From the acoustic Dave Matthews songs to the crazy rock concert like finish, Paul and his band blew me away--and I'm a big music freak!  Even after photographing the wedding for ten hours, I was still wired, so Ashley and I went to this really cool bar, The Chicken Box, and saw an amazing funk band, Miss Fairchild. The lead singer was like a white Prince, one of my favorite musicians. 

Stef and Serge, thank you very much for having me and Ashley photograph your amazing wedding; it was one of the best weddings of the year!!! I look forward to creating a one of a kind book for both of you.

Wedding Rehearsal in Nantucket

So I mentioned that Ashley and I had the privilege of photographing a wedding for a wonderful couple and their great families recently in Nantucket. There were so many killer images that the whole event deserves more than one post. Below are some of my favorite images from the rehearsal the night before the wedding. You would have thought that the rehearsal in the church was the real thing, based on the intense level of love everyone was feeling--and expressing. You can see by the images below that Stefanie and Serge were indeed made for each other.  The wedding day post is next. Stay tuned!

I couldn't help feel that I was really in Russia or Europe that night.  The whole vibe--food, drink, music, atmosphere--was incredible.

Party in Nantucket!!!!

A couple weeks ago, Ashley and I photographed one of the biggest PARTIES, I mean weddings, ever.  I just had to get a few reception, I mean PARTY, images up before I write a full blown post about this incredible day.  One word: Amazing.  Amazing couple, location, planner, band, etc.  Thank you for choosing me to be your wedding photographer in Nantucket. Linda & Mario - Wedding at the State Room, Boston, MA

A couple weeks ago, I had the priviledge of photographing Linda and Mario's wedding at the State Room in Boston. They are two of the most genuine people I have ever met, and you can see it in their eyes. Check out the images below to see what I mean. They are just so sincere and fun to be around. I dream of capturing these intense, emotional moments. You can see it in their eyes. My daughter is only four. I can't images that the day will come when I will be in Linda's dad's shoes.

This is great example of me just observing, being still, finger on the camera button, waiting for the best moment to capture the moment that illiustrates all the joy and excitment of a wedding ceremony. After I take an image like this, the adrenaline just shoots through my body. So cool.

The State Room has added a back lit gallery to the entryway to the Great Room. Very cool! I was thrilled to see one of the images I took from Linda and Mario's engagement portrait session in Boston. Yeah, it's the one on the right.

More amazing flower displays--this time in large blocks of ice. They were truly works of art.

Many times, I just never know if a groom is going to dip a bride during their first dance. You just have to be quick and have really good timing.

It was like an embrace that said, "Thank you dad, for all that you have done for me. I love you."

Dance Recital

Last week, my daughter had her first dance recital.  I was so proud of her.  Thanks to the powers that be, I was able to go backstage and photograph the event from a interesting perspective.  Enjoy!

Tara & Jason - Wedding Photography at Humanity Epicenter, Boston, MA

Just when I think I have photographed weddings at every possible location in Boston, a client of mine introduces me to another cool and unique venue. Such is the Artists for Humanity Epicenter in south Boston. Tara, the bride, had so many wonderful ideas about the wedding, including vibrant colors, a relaxed party atmosphere, and ensuring that her guests had plenty of fun.  She succeeded on all counts and provided me with endless image opportunities.  Thank you Tara.  I wish you and Jason the best.
